San Francisco Aquarium Society (SFAS)
Breeders Award Program (BAP)
Purpose:
-
To provide an organized methodology that promotes the spawning of fish through friendly competition.
-
To encourage the hobbyist that desires to enhance the hobby by breeding and then disseminating fish and aquatic animals to other hobbyists.
-
To share information concerning the best conditions under which to breed specific species of fish and other aquatic animals.
-
To make the proliferation of a wide variety of fish more readily available to the general membership.
-
To recognize the achievements of SFAS members with prizes and awarding certificates of recognition.
-
To promote greater interest and participation by hobbyists in the activities of SFAS.
-
Procedure Points will be awarded to the participant for each qualifying submission. The points are predetermined based upon the difficulty of spawning that specific species. (Refer to the BAP Point List)
-
The BAP Chairman will have the responsibility to verify that a BAP submission meets the requirements of the rules and will keep a written record of species spawned and points awarded to the SFAS member.
-
The participant must submit a BAP Report Form to the BAP Chairman for all spawns (and written articles) to obtain credit in the form of BAP points. (BAP Report Form available on the SFAS web site.)
-
Points will be recorded for each individual SFAS member for the calendar year as well as the lifetime point accumulation. The year to date BAP standings are generally reported in the SFAS web site.
-
The spawn may be submitted at any regularly scheduled meeting as well as any SFAS activity that is designated as accepting BAP submissions for auction.
-
The spawn will be auctioned at any SFAS activity accepting submissions. The proceeds from the sale will be split 70/30 with 30% of the money going to SFAS.
-
Awards are given for both yearly and lifetime accomplishments at the last SFAS activity of the year.
-
BAP points will also be awarded for original articles written for the SFAS newsletter and then published.
